Peng-Kuen
Chiang, director of Science Division of Taipei Economic and Cultural
Office (TECO) in Chicago, and Shane T. Wu, director of Cultural
Division of TECO, visited the Twin Cities May 8-9, 2003. They were
accompanied by Richard Chang of Science Division. On May 8, they
toured Mayo Clinic in Rochester. The next day, they met with Professors
Wei-Shou Hu, David Du, Wei-Chung Hsu, Cheng-Cher Huang, and Ching-Chang
Ko of the University of Minnesota and toured their labs. They held
a luncheon for Dean H. Ted Davis and Associate Dean Peter Hudleston,
both of the Institute of Technology, as well as Joseph R. Allen,
chair of Asian Languages and Literatures, and 8 other faculty members
of the University. They also toured Medtronic hosted by Ms. Hsin-Huey
Lin, senior design automation engineer. They had dinner with 25
members and friends of the Taiwanese Association of America-Minnesota
Chapter.
